Dr. Elsa Solaris (Sotiriadis) is a former venture capital investor and scientist by background, who helped build and launch over two dozen life sciences startups to transform the food, health, and tech industries as a program director at SOSV, the most active global early-stage fund. Her work as the popular futurist speaker 'The Biofuturist' has been featured by BBC, New Statesman, deVolkskrant, Arab News, RedBull Media, Silicon Republic, and others. She speaks five languages, has lived in nine countries and holds a Joint PhD in synthetic biology from Imperial College London and the University of Hong Kong, for which she won a merit-based scholarship to research biological nanobots that attack cancer cells. She now manages her own investment portfolio, appears as keynote speaker around the world, consults F100 companies and writes speculative fiction. She has published short stories, poetry and art, took part in the BBC's award-winning Sci-Fi Thriller Podcast Forest 404, and won an honorable mention at Writers of the Future in Hollywood, L.A. Recently, she made the Young Storyteller Award Top 20 by publisher story.one and book retailer Thalia (out of 1200) with her new book. |
